Anna Schattschneider - Instytut Pileckiego
Historical researcher. She studied History at the University of Texas at Austin and Public History at the Free University in Berlin.
Her research focuses on the coming to terms with Nazi crimes in the German Democratic Republic and the impact of this coming to terms on relations with the Federal Republic of Germany and the People's Republic of Poland in the 1950s and 1960s.
Together with the Pilecki Institute, she will investigate how three individuals - Reinhard Strecker, Thomas Harlan and Hermann Langbein - gained access to archival material in Poland across the borders of the Iron Curtain and how their work contributed to the legal investigations of Nazi perpetrators in the Federal Republic of Germany.
