Florine Miez - Instytut Pileckiego
Historical researcher. Studied political science and German literature at Johann Wolfgang Goethe-University in Frankfurt. Her research focus is on Fritz Bauer and the Auschwitz trial that took place in Frankfurt from 1963 until 1965. Her aim for the research project for the Pilecki institute is to show the east-west collaboration between the FRG and Poland, in particular, how the trial came about at the height of the Cold War when Holocaust knowledge was rarely shared across the Iron Curtain.
She will show how collaboration between Fritz Bauer and people like the Polish prosecutor Jan Sehn and former Auschwitz prisoner Hermann Langbein broke down these barriers, brought war criminals to justice, and shaped our collective understanding of the Holocaust today.
