Aliaksandr Raichonak - Instytut Pileckiego
In 2015 he was awarded the academic title of associate professor in the specialty of history.
He was educated at the Belarusian State University (specialization "history", 1994), Belarusian State Technological University (postgraduate studies, specialization "national history", 1997). He defended his doctoral thesis on the topic: "Formation of Belarusian statehood in the context of different ideological priorities (1917 - 1927)". Author of over 50 publications.
His research interests include the history of Belarusian statehood; the formation of the Belarusian nation; the formation of nation states in Eastern Europe at the beginning of the twentieth century; the history of European nationalisms (national movements); problems of transformation of traditional societies in the age of modernisation; political and military conflicts of the epoch of the collapse of the European empire and the formation of nation states; the political history of interwar Europe; historical premises of the formation of totalitarian states; the ideology and practice of totalitarianism; the formation of historical memory and the practice of commemoration as a phenomenon of historical policy.
As part of the scholarship, he is researching the topic "Bialystok region as a part of BSSR 1939 - 1941 in Belarusian historiography and archival materials". At the moment the search for archival materials within the research topic is conducted, as well as their systematisation and generalisation in order to use them further in the process of research on this issue.
